Black Tie
The most common attire for formal weddings and events in the evening, with a black tuxedo, white tuxedo shirt, black bowtie, and black patent leather shoes making up a man’s classic outfit. While a Black Tie wedding or event requires adherence to a narrower set of guidelines than others, the benefit is that you really can’t go wrong if you follow the broad rules of the dress code, and lean into the details for added personality.
CLASSIC TUXEDO
If you are getting married or attending a Black Tie event, a black tuxedo, black bowtie, white tuxedo shirt, and patent leather shoes are the most timeless options. If you truly intend to stand out, consider a hued dinner jacket, tuxedo shirt, and formal trousers.
For those of you who have been at this for years, you already know where you can set yourself apart–go with a custom collar on your shirt, a flash of color in your pocket square, or a particularly attractive set of cufflinks. Find your style in the accessories and your customizations, but don’t stray too far afield if you want to arrive in Black Tie style.

DINNER JACKETS
An excellent option if you want to bend the Black Tie rules, or simply make a statement at your wedding. The only noteworthy difference between a dinner jacket and tuxedo is in their location of origin, with dinner jackets garnering fame in London, tuxedos in New York. Otherwise, they are structurally the same jacket. Still, many of us think of a dinner jacket as a more vibrant option, especially when you consider alternate lapel options such as peak, shawl, and our new swoop shawl. Customize your jacket with fabric-covered buttons, or choose satin-trimmed. Pair your dinner jacket with formal tuxedo trousers, or go with a tonal patterned houndstooth trouser for an extra level of detail. Finish off your look with velvet slippers if they suit your taste–we think they are just the right balance of luxury and comfort.
